Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-23
Effective: August 23, 2026
This is the privacy policy for towelsmith.com, the home of Towelsmith’s writing on Towelsmith. It explains what is collected, why, and how to change it.
Children’s Privacy
This site is written for adults. It is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that threshold), we do not knowingly collect data from them, and if we learn we have, we delete it.
If You Subscribe
We use confirmed (double) opt-in for the mailing list, so nobody is subscribed by mistake or by someone else. Unsubscribe links and our postal address appear in every email, and we do not sell or rent the list.
Purposes
Purposes: operating towelsmith.com; measuring which of our guides, comparisons and reference pages draw readers; sending the newsletter to subscribers; and supporting advertising where it is displayed.
The Information Involved
This site may collect technical visit data (IP address, device and browser identifiers, referrer, pages and times) and, separately, information you supply directly: subscription email addresses, comment names and addresses, and anything written in a message to us.
Given what we write about, this is worth being explicit about: we ask readers not to send us sensitive personal details, and we delete rather than retain anything of that kind that reaches us unprompted.
Partners and Providers
Several providers may be involved in delivering towelsmith.com — hosting, analytics, email delivery, and advertising networks. Where a provider determines its own purposes (advertising and analytics vendors typically do), it is an independent controller and its policy governs what it does.
Retention & Security
Data lifespans are tied to purpose — analytics on the provider’s expiry schedule, email addresses until you leave the list, comments until they are taken down. Protection is by way of restricted access and encrypted transport, applied proportionately. No online service can be perfectly secure.
Control You Have
Your rights depend on your jurisdiction, but broadly: access, correction, erasure, portability, objection, and opt-out of sale or sharing for targeted advertising. UK/EU readers hold these under GDPR; readers in California and other US states hold equivalents under CCPA/CPRA and comparable laws. A Global Privacy Control signal is treated as a valid opt-out. Further detail: State Privacy Notice and Do Not Sell or Share.
